The Salvation Army Will Gladly Take Your Leftovers!!

A Salvation Army truck will arrive at 65 Pepler Avenue on garage sale day at 1:30 pm and will stay until 4:00 pm. Please bring your leftovers to donate!

There are some items they are unable to accept due to sanitary and health and safety concerns. These include; used mattresses and box springs, sofa beds, used wall-to-wall carpets, hazardous materials (e.g. paints), propane tanks, barbecues, infant equipment (e.g. car seats, cribs and strollers), tires and auto parts.  

Bake Sale, BBQ's Lemonade Stand & More!!!

 

The Legion at Pape and Woodville will be having a sale and BBQ with the proceeds going to the Legion

Yasmin and family will be having a bake sale & a BBQ as well with the proceeds going to Wellspring! They are at 31 & 33 Pepler Avenue.

 

There will be a lemonade stand at 22 Warland Avenue and Girl Guide cookies are being sold at 537 Donlands Avenue!!

There will be a huge garage sale at 2 Pepler Avenue facing on Woodville Avenue. All the proceeds from this sale will go to the Bethany Baptist Church Food Bank!!!

The Golden Triangle Garage Sale is Back!!!!!

That's right folks!! The Golden Triangle Garage Sale is back!!! The flyers will be sent out this week. The Salvation Army truck has agreed to come and pick up the leftovers again this year. They will be at 65 Pepler Avenue from 1:30 to 4:00 pm on the day of the sale.

Less than 12 hours until garage sale starts !!!

The early bird shoppers and sellers will be out well before the 8am starting time trying to get a head start on the day...

Before I keep going...there is a lost dog in the neighbourhood. Her name is Lily and she is a very nervous Chihuahua wearing a pink harness and black leash. She could be hiding in someone's backyard or under a veranda. She was last seen this morning running in the lane north of O'Connor Drive between Donlands and towards Pape. There will be a Garage Couture pop up at 212 O'Connor Drive tomorrow. Mid and High end products! Bags, shoes and accessories with the proceeds going to charity. Lauren and Charlotte will be running the show....Do not miss this one!!!

3 Days and Counting!!!

Garage Sale is only 3 days away...
and the weather forecast has changed every day this week. The biggest wish is that the weather stays the same as the Saturday forecast showing today.

20 Degrees with almost no chance of rain is every garage saler's dream!!! Let's hope it stays like that !!! Fingers and toes crossed!!

5 Days and Counting!

Garage Sale Day is fast approaching! 

There are still garage sale packages and lawn signs available to those wishing to participate in this Saturday's sale. Yes, the action starts at 8am on Saturday, June 2nd.

For those getting organized for the sale, there is a trusty check list here that should help you to prepare for the sale.

Garage Sale Checklist

Done	Activity
	Select, clean, price, label and pack items for sale
	Organize helpers
	Organize tables and sale set up
	Items to have on hand are: pens, markers, scissors, scotch tape, tape measurer and an extra long extension cord
	Prepare or buy munchies and cold drinks for helpers
	Have comfortable chairs around for helpers
	Get Money from the bank (change and small denomination bills)
	Have grocery bags available for packing up purchases for customers as well as newspapers for wrapping breakables
	If selling clothes, have a full length mirror available for customers

Please note: You should make sure that all of this is done before the day of the sale. You will only have enough time to set up your items on the morning of the sale as there are ALWAYS early bird shoppers.

Reminder

Please think about parking your car at the William Burgess School parking lot on the day of the sale. This will relieve some of the traffic congestion that we have experienced in the past.

June 2nd will soon be here and with that our annual massive community garage sale. Garage sale packages are still available and if you would like a garage sale lawn sign the week before the sale, just reach out. 

Yasmin at 33 Pepler will be having her famous bake sale and BBQ again this year! be sure to drop by. Her baking is outlandishly delicious!

There is a special and enthusiastic family on Beechwood Drive this year and you won't want to miss them! They have kid's toys and books and two golf carts to sell among other things. They have been known to produce a good bit of baking as well. Stop by to say hello and see what they have on offer this year.

We can all start praying for weather and talking to the garage sale gods. It is ramping up to be a banner year yet again.

Golden Triangle Garage Sale !!!

March Break is over. Holiday time is done. Time to get to that Spring cleaning and with that your collection of wonderful items to sell at this year's Golden Triangle Garage Sale.

This year's sale will be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 8am until 2pm. As in previous years, the Salvation Army will provide a truck at 65 Pepler Avenue at 2pm until 4pm on the day of the sale to collect unwanted or unsold items. This is always a great donation day for the Salvation Army and a wonderful feel good day for everyone else.

Where did the idea of Spring cleaning come from your ask?????

Some researchers trace the origin of spring cleaning to the Iranian Nowruz, the Persian new year, which falls on the first day of spring. Iranians continue the practice of "khooneh tekouni" which literally means "shaking the house" just before the Persian new year.

Who would have known.....

Time for everyone to get on the band wagon and start sharing the garage sale date with friends and family and anyone else who will listen....please post on your social media whenever possible. It is true...posting closer to sale time will most likely be more productive but it is good to get everyone to mark it in their calendars now.

Happy Garage Sale People!!!

Yesterday was an absolutely fantastic day for garage sale! There were many families out selling their wares along with lemonade, hot dogs, hamburgers and more.

Yes, this picture was in yesterday but I am biased as he is my grandson !!! :)

Loads of buyers came from far and wide to participate in our community event.

Annual trip from Oshawa to purchase this vintage sled. Great accent for the holidays!

Many interesting items were displayed for sale....

Giant egg shaped speaker chair. Could you imagine keeping this beast for all these years? Where the heck would it live?

The Scarborough Ice Raiders Minor Peewee A hockey team took over a corner of Donlands and Wolverton!!!

Team and Coach Rob raised over $1,100 for the team !!! Way to go team!!! What a fabulous group effort!

Yasmin from Pepler came down with a bad flu on Friday morning and was unable to get all her baking done. She is still not feeling great but recovering. Her loving family took over her annual bake sale and they were still able to raise $500 for Wellspring !!! Fabulous job!

The Salvation Army showed up early this year just after 1:00pm. They had a 3 tonne truck that was quickly filled up and a second truck had to be ordered. That truck then got half filled up! Way to go neighbours for a generous donation day for The Salvation Army!!!

The sign man.... Joe Bortolussi, faithfully drives around every year after the garage sale and collects all the banners and signs. That is a huge job and it is greatly appreciated!!! 

John and Sheila Brazys are always helping at 65 Pepler Avenue. They are at the house by 7:00am and stay until the Salvation Army truck leaves at 4pm. Then.....this year, they invited us to their house for a lovely dinner of nicoise salad. How good is that! Thank you so much for all that you do!

Special thanks to all that helped at 65 Pepler. Vanessa, Michelle, Sheila and John, Sherran, Janet, Kevin, Paul and last but not least, my husband, Peter Carr. Without out his help and support, this event would not happen.
