Social media at its best! On the Wednesday before the sale, Lynn spent all morning posting the annual Garage Sale on social media. The sale was posted on Kijiji, Craigslist and Facebook. Included in these posts were pictures taken at Garage Sale from previous years and the web address for our blog.
By lunchtime on Wednesday, CTV news had called and said that they wanted to cover our Garage Sale. Lynn recruited Chris Smith from Rivercourt to set up a mock garage sale for filming on the Thursday before the sale. Coverage included the filmed item and a live broadcast from Pepler on the 6.00 pm and 11.00 pm news on Friday.
As a result, we had an amazing number of shoppers show up on Saturday morning for the sale.
On Sunday, our rain day, CTV returned to cover our sale and walked the streets of the Golden Triangle looking for good Garage Sale news items. Once again, the sale was featured on the evening news.
